Learn How to Live the Good Life in Ireland

With thoughts of eating healthy and locally, many people are seeking advice on how to do so. With a focus on providing good food and sustainability, the five-day Good Life course at the non-profit Organic Centre in Rossinver, County Leitrim, Ireland, offers just that.

Since 1995, the aim of the Organic Centre has been to "promote organic gardening and sustainable living through training, demonstration, and the provision of information." Courses offered range from weekend gardening classes to a certificate in Organic Horticulture. The Organic Centre has an on-site eco-store offers a variety of wares including organic seeds, gardening tools, and reference books.

The Good Life program, offered July 12-16, 2010, features full-day sessions on such topics as:
growing vegetables organically

• growing and using herbs

• growing fruit at home

making yoghurt and soft cheeses
• baking and cooking with wholemeal

storing and perservation

The Organic Center realizes that living the 'good life' is more than about food - it's about living and maintaining a well-balanced lifestyle. The course also offers an introduction to yoga, relaxation techniques, a seaweed gathering walk on a local beach, and a visit to an organic farm run with alternative energy.

The village of Rossinver is located in County Leitrim on the shores of Lough Melvin; be sure to visit the fishery at Eden Quay, take a river walk to Fowley's Falls, and see the 9th century grave stone at Rossinver Church. Pick up a Dublin Airport car hire and enjoy the scenic drive to Rossinver, approximately 3 hours away.

The cost of the Good Life program is €700 and includes breakfast, vegetarian lunch, and dinner daily; accommodations are not included is this limited-space program.
